WELCOME to the Film-Critiques website!
Film Critiques / Movie Reviews by Jef and Lyn.
First time here? be sure to read about this site.

Well... It has been several years now (3 I think) that Film-Critiques has been online. And it is with some reserve that we are shutting things down. It's been fun running the site, but the task of writing a review after every movie we see has become a bit much. I look forward to seeing a movie now knowing that there will be no "homework" afterwards. That being said it has been a ball starting this site up from scratch and watching it's popularity grow. We've had some accomplishments; free merchandise for the exchange of advertising a movie, we've had some major studios (and a few minor ones) send us what are called "Screeners" (basically a copy of their movie on dvd or vhs, before it has been released), and even a night watching a rock and roll show to promote Gina Gershon's movie, where we saw her, and a few other "stars" (who by the way snubbed us... Gina couldn't be bothered to come out of her tour bus to sign about 10 autographs.) And of course a few fan mails (both negative and positive).

I want to thank all of you who helped support the website by coming here to read our reviews. I want to thank the people we've met along the way.

What's that? You don't want us to go? Well, we will be keeping the option of returning to the web at some time in the future, should the need arise.

On behalf of Lyn, Roblyn, and myself... So long, and thanks for all the fish!

I also would like to send a special thanks for Lyn's help and support and reviews... without his input, this site would have never gotten off the ground, nor been as fun as it has been. Thanks dude.

In the short time left that this site will be up (I think until the beginning of Sept.) those of you who still wish to follow film-critiques... I will be attempting to re-start a blog I once had. This will NOT be just movie reviews, but basically thoughts of mine ranging on everything and anything. I hope to basically use this as a creative outlet for writing. Check it out if you get the chance, or are the slightest bit interested at: Thoughts of Cyen.

Movie News of note:

A New Record... 50 MILLION! ...
Lucas has done it again... 50 million dollars in one day! The count for Thursdays showing (which included the 12 midnight shows of "wed" night), has come in at just over 50 mil. The Revenge of the Sith showed in 3,661 theatres and more than 9,000 screens around the US. (These numbers I assume are just for the USA, so we're talking much more than 50 million world wide!). Read more on the yahoo news here.

Movie Ads...
I've gotten on my soapbox about this before, and it seems someone may be listening... Lowes has announced it will start to post "actual" movie start times, instead of the start time of up to 20 minutes of commercials. It seems as though the details are still being worked out, but here's hoping this works, and we can eliminated these commercials from the theatre! Full story on Yahoo.com
