A reunion of 2 Bad Boys who have worked together for 8 more years and the bitterness shows. Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) is obviously more bitter with Mike Lowry (Will Smith), or is it jealousy that Mike inherited his money, always gets the girl, and has never really had to work hard for his success?
Marcus and Mike are still narcotics detectives trying to capture the latest ecstasy ring master (Jordi Molla). We’re introduced to Marcus’ sister (Gabrielle Union) who of
course Mike is smitten with, to find out she’s somehow involved with the investigation. M & M’s Captain (Joe Pantoliano) is way too stressed and needs a vacation. The boy’s get to show their comedic side and my favorite scene is when the boy’s visit the Captain at his home, Martin is brilliant.
If you’re looking for action, this movie has it. Maybe a bit too much, but this was the year for sequels. It had to compete somehow, as they weren’t dealing with androids, futuristic timeframes, or mutants. Action and comedy are what make this movie what it is. Remember folks; this is just a movie and entertainment for the eyes!
The highway chase is unique and funny, that only Marcus and Mike could pull off. The visual effects are great, but the sequence is too long. This would have been more effective if it was the finale, and not at the beginning. Very creative and superb camera work. The scene where they are in a stand off in an old house is original.
If you like comedy and A LOT of action, you will enjoy this movie. The original was far more tame, had a better story, and equal comedy to action. I felt they tried too hard on this one, when with the talent they had, didn’t need to go to the extreme. More action than story.
I still liked it and I’m a fan of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as this type of movie is what makes them, Will & Martin! Comedy, action and more action.
