Writer Mark Brown and Director Tom Story offer up a day in the life kind
of film, for which I am always a sucker. I truly enjoyed this movie about
a barbershop and it's cast of characters set in the Southside of Chicago.
Don't look too deeply, it's just a movie. But, there are undertones that
kind of get into my heart. It's not just about a barbershop and the people
that walk in and out if it's door. It's about a place where you just go
and what it represent. Like in the movie, "It's a social club".
And it reminded me of times, just hanging someplace with friends and strangers,
and just talking about anything and everything, and it didn't matter how
far off the track the stories went. Like this film, it was an escape from
the real world, and a reminder of what the life and this world should
be like. But reality comes back too quickly, and things aren't like the
way they are in the movies. But, wouldn't it be cool if they were? Anyway,
I wouldn't expect much of a plot, but it didn't matter much, the movie
had more than enough charm, with some rocking tunes, and some truly funny
characters, especially Cedric the Entertainer as Eddie. Good film, go
see it…and try to live it too.
