Storyline: Bourne (Matt Damon) is on the run - still. He’s implicated in a new murder, and the CIA/FBI is after him - again. He’s still having trouble remembering things about his past. I’ll start with the good, because I was really liking and enjoying this movie at the beginning. Matt Damon did a good job with the film. He was a man of few words (which almost bothered me) in that his dialogue for the whole movie was limited to maybe 100 words. That being said, you realize this was a heavy action movie. Cool, I like action movies as much as the next guy. There were some cool fight scenes, too. I did like the other main characters too, Pam Landy (Joan Allen) and Ward Abbott (Brian Cox – from the first movie also). The movie started to turn for me, when I realized it was filmed in the “shaky camera” technique. Ugh, how I despise this format. If you want to use it a little, fine, but this movie was almost entirely shot this way. Even one of the scenes latter on in the movie when two characters were just sitting at a table, the camera was still jiggling around. There were moments in the film, where I had no idea what was going on, due to the camera shake. At one point, I wanted to cover my eyes, because I was starting to get wobbly myself (and I don’t get motion sickness). Finally, the point that turned it for me was the storyline. There were too many characters that went about unexplained. I still have major questions about this plot, and am wondering whom in the world some of those characters were. I’m not sure if I’ll be inspired enough though to put the time into reading this book too. All in all, not a bad film overall. There were parts that I did enjoy. But the shaky camera was just a bit too much for me to take. And then mix that with the plot/storyline holes, and I came out the film ready to give it a red light. But only for those moments early on, am I being generous and giving this a yellow light. Don’t sit too close to the screen, take some Dramamine, and you might enjoy this film. |
