Nutshell:
Did you see “The Bourne Identity?” Well, this is the same film… only nowhere near as good. If not, then well, ‘Matt Damon’ plays ‘Jason Bourne’, an assassin for the CIA who still hasn’t regained his complete memory from the first film. He still has all his fighting skills, and random bits and pieces of displaced memories. The story is Jason being set up to cover a trail for a murder he didn’t commit, and…blah, blah, blah.

Understand I enjoyed the first film very much, but this movie did absolutely nothing to extend that feeling. Yeah ‘Jason Bourne’ is cool, but the story was just so…yawn. I mean I saw this stuff already. And “Oh, you mean it’s a conspiracy…again? And “Oh, that person was the bad person? Really? Wow that wasn’t a shocker.” And “Oh Jason kicks butt no matter where he goes? Yeah…that’s new.” It’s just a tried version of a typical sequel that’s main purpose is cashing in on the first film’s success.

But, there’s a twist. The cinematography made things inconceivably worse. With an extreme version of the jerky camera style made famous by TV’s “NYPD Blue”, most of the film’s action sequences were almost dizzying. Example: A fight between our hero and another assassin (or ex-assassin…whichever) both clad in black, and although they had different color hair, I couldn’t tell who was hitting whom until it was over, and then I almost wasn’t sure either. Then there's the car chases (the bread and butter of any action movie, not to mention the fights, or random explosion, but still an intrical ingredient nonetheless) it actually seemed as if they taped an 8mm camera to the dash, and then held it out an open window to capture the wide angle scenes. I mean I’ve seen better footage capture by the dashboard cameras used on “Cops”, and I’m sure that 'Universal Pictures' spent a little more on their equipment than the “Local P.D. of the Week” did on “Cops”. But, I guess the police are more skilled at setting up their cameras in this case, because these intentionally sloppy shots were simply giving me a headache.

I’d go on, but the headache thing pretty much sums up the whole film…
