Nutshell:
Bernie Lootz (William Macy) is the title character, a somewhat sad-sack jinx hired by a casino because he basically brings bad luck to any table he touches, sits, or even stands at, putting a screeching halt to anyone having a winning streak. In essence, he cools the action, hence the title of the film. That is until Lady Luck walks into his life…

As for the movie itself, I like the idea, but I got tired of being spoon fed certain points. The story fell apart somewhere early in the film, and never seemed to recover. The acting on the other hand was very well done. Alec Baldwin as the Freedmont Street old school mob-ruled (?) casino owner character played his part to a tee, like something right out the film "Casino". William H Macy's portrayal as the film's lovable loser was perfect, unfortunately for both actors a case of wasted talent on this movie.

I could never figure out if this was supposed to be a comedy or a drama. Perhaps it's a Comedy-Drama? Hmmm…Naw. But by the film's "Yeah, so what?" ending, there were more questions to ask then were answered. And when it comes down to having those questions answered that would involve asking them, and asking them would imply caring…and I don't. So for the moment, I'll acknowledge and move on…
