Let me start with I used to be a fan of Stephen King's writings in my
youth, before I came more to the philosophy as Egon in "Ghostbusters"
so succinctly put it when he was asked what he liked to read and he said,
"Print is dead." I liked that. : ) However, I did enjoy reading
most his books, but preferred his short stories or novellas instead. After
a while it became more and more ridiculous as time past and he seemed
to spit out an endless stream of one book quickly followed by another.
But, then his stories were coming to the silver screen, and there seemed
be no reason to buy his books anymore, because the big Hollywood machine
would present me the winners and weed out his bad stories (or so one might
think). But, as I found out that it really came down to who had done the
screenplay or had directed the film. So, it turned out more to be a hit
or miss when deciding which of his adapted books was worth the price of
admission. And of course back once again to my original predicament…I
don't read books. : (And now unfortunately this is not my only dilemma…I'm
also getting tired of writing bad reviews as of late. But the show must
go on… : )
Simply put, I didn't get it. That's it. No long drawn out explanation
why…it was just a bad film. I mean it had a good cast, director,
and screenplay writer but nothing interesting to watch for some reason.
Perhaps it's the Producer's fault? : ) I don't know. But had I known that
Stephen King sold the rights to the book for a $1 beforehand then perhaps
I would not have seen this stinker. And if you ask me…the studio
overpaid. : )
