Nutshell: An unusual chain of events befalls a young couple one
night in the city of Montreal. Center stage we have Sam (Gavin Heffernan)
and good friend Rachel (Janet Lane). Rachel tells Sam she's pregnant,
and that it is his. Sam debates on doing the honorable thing and asking
Rachel to marry him, but during the course of the evening events a robbery
kind of throws the night into the previous mentioned "unusual chain
of events…"
I think what I liked most about this film was it reminded me of a unique
night in Atlantic City I once had when the world was younger. It and this
movie had much in common in the fact that what may seem as an ordinary
night can turn on you at any moment. But, with that enters the decision
to take this path that now lies before you or turnaround and go back the
way you came. And keeping this in mind that if you do choose this new
course that the circumstances that follow may take you to places that
you cannot come back from. Hmmm…choices that may drastically alter
the direction of your life? Seems and is a very good premise for a movie.
On the other hand…
The acting wasn't all it could have been, but with a fledgling movie you
really can't expect "Lawrence of Arabia". The cinematography
was very well done, and Writer/Director/Actor Gavin Heffernan makes a
noteworthy effort in his first feature length endeavor. I look forward
to seeing more of his work in the future.
