Nutshell: Harry’s like 38 now and still at ‘Hogwarts’ caught up in yet another fascinating adventure that somehow involves that guy your not supposed to mention the name of, and a tale that I’m pretty sure he’ll come out on top despite any underwhelming efforts made to prove otherwise. Bloody Brilliant!

I don’t know what it was but this movie seemed just so long and tedious to me. I can’t tell if it was just because they changed directors from ‘Chris Columbus’ (directed the first two films) to ‘Alfonso Cuarón’ (with whom I’ve never heard of before, not that that makes a difference or anything). I mean this could be a good thing, or a very bad one.

  Example:
1.Alien – 1979 / Dir. Ridley Scott (Great Film)
2.Aliens – 1896 / Dir. James Cameron (Better Film)
Side note: ‘Aliens’ made into my favorite “Sci-Fi Movies” whereas ‘Alien’ did not.

  Example:
1.Batman – 1989 / Dir. Tim Burton (Great Film)
2.Batman Forever – 1995 / Dir. Joel Schumacher (Sucked Totally!)

And here’s an interesting thought…what if “Peter Jackson” didn’t direct ‘Return of the King’? Would it have been as good as everyone said it was? If someone else had directed it, would it have been worse, or even better (and perhaps then I would have liked it too)?  Hard to say, but it was rumored that ‘Steven Spielberg’ was supposed to direct this film. Then I wonder if that would of made any difference?  Well, it doesn’t, cause he didn’t and neither did ‘Chris Columbus’, and for that matter I don’t think that would have made any difference either. Because out of curiosity I had ‘Sherman’ set the Wayback Machine™ and Guess what campers? I didn’t like ‘Chamber of Secrets’ either! Then, why am I getting so involved in figuring out the reason I didn’t like this one? It’s just the same story repeated over and over with only slight modifications in the plotline. Duh?

But I must say this, if you read and liked the books, you’ll probably enjoy this installment, just as if you liked the first two films, then the same will probably hold true. For me however, just not my cup of tea…I guess.

Sad note thought: My daughter wants to see this film because she’s a huge ‘Harry Potter’ movie fan, and this was my prescreening for her in regard to content (not quality). I told her Daddy didn’t really like it, but she didn’t care, she still wants to go, so I’m off I for a second dose. Hopefully I can find a comfy seat…
