Nutshell:
After a chain of unfortunate incidents with the general public, the government has placed a cease and desist order on all superheroes from using their superpowers. The government has deemed this necessary, because it is getting too expensive to pay for damages from lawsuits filed by the public against the before mentioned superheroes. Our main superhero, ‘Mr. Incredible’ (Craig T. Nelson) isn’t adjusting very well (15 years later) to his lifestyle change into Mr. Ordinary, and still yearns to be out there fighting the good fight.

Okay first of all I’ve seen this movie twice already, the first time with Jef in our Standard Operating Procedures mode of being film critics, and then a week later in my SOP mode of being a Dad. My daughter really wanted to see this film.

Anyway, the first sitting didn’t sit well me. I mean I liked the film and all, but something was bothering me about it, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. But as for a story, I actually found that quite original and that in itself is refreshing. It really hit close to real life, in that I’ve heard tell of people doing something good to help or save someone else, and that recipient turns around and sues their savior because they got injured in the process, even though if their hero hadn’t intervened they themselves may not be here anymore…Sorry, I got nothing about that one.

The CGI on the other hand was for the lack of a better word…“Incredible”. The work done on just the hair and water alone was simply superb. Bravo…well done. The film moved along well, and I found the choices made for the characters voices only complimented the movie even more (even though I probably would have went with ‘Jim Belushi’ as ‘Mr. Incredible’, but that’s only my opinion, and you know what they say about those…so) and ‘Jason Lee’ was perfect as…well, I don’t want to give away anything so I’ll just say…in his role. I thought each cast member did a great job, and made the movie even more enjoyable. Also, I found the movie very funny, and not to mention that ‘Disney’ didn’t kill anyone’s parent in the film (see my review for “Finding Nemo”) so…what’s my problem with it?

After trying to think of what it was that bothered about the film, the only thing I came up with was that it ran a little long for my liking. But, if this was the only thing, with all the other good things this film had going for it, that reason seems a little lame. So instead, I just give it a ‘Green Light’ and except it for what it was…a good film. And I was happy to shell out more money for my daughter (and one of her little friends), my wife, and myself (again) to go enjoy the film. They all thought it was great, and my daughter already wants it on DVD.
