The final chapter in Peter Jackson and Frances Walsh's vision
of J.R.R Tolkien's epic trilogy…blah, blah, blah…Okay I'm
gonna break from the norm here for the moment if you don't mind, but I'm
sure Jef will.
Personally I found the movie adequate. Sure it had all the drama and majesty
of the first two films, and the acting was great, especially that of Sean
Astin. The cinematography was inspiring, and the CGI…superb. Although
the story was kind of longwinded in it's 3 hour and 10 minute telling,
but you have to give detail into the struggle in which the characters
endure. But as for a movie, it really wasn't much different than it's
predecessor. On the other hand, that in the fact that it is a trilogy,
and you really can't change the characters or their actions in mid-stream,
they are what they are. Plus I'm sure it doesn't help my review that I
saw this film on a weeknight when I have to be up the next morning for
work at 0630. It's just
that there wasn't really anything new to see, and it's so freakin' long
(but, in that regard, I'm sure like most films adapted from books, there
is still so much that was not covered in the film).
But, when it comes right down to it, if you're a fan of "The Lord
of the Rings", (which if you are, you really won't need to read reviews
before going, you'll go away) I'm sure you'll love this one too. So does
it really matter what I have to say? No…not really. If you're not
a fan, you ain't going away…so, do the math.
My apologies to any "LOTR" fans for the stark review, but I
call 'em as I see 'em, and no offense was intended.
