Nutshell:  Former CIA Agent Creasy (Denzel Washington) goes to Mexico City and ends up reluctantly becoming a bodyguard for a little girl. Then after she is kidnapped, he wages one-man personal wars against any and all that were involved with the crime.

Plain and simple, I liked this film. You could feel for Denzel Washington’s character from the very beginning. It was obvious that he’s seen some really bad stuff in his life, and it would be nice to see this little girl (Dakota Fanning) bring some sun into his day. But, from seeing the trailer as a precursor, you know that any sun-shiny feeling ain’t gonna last long. Then when things go bad, they go really bad.

I understand that Creasy is just a movie character and Denzel Washington the actor portraying him, but it was a riveting performance just the same. It wasn’t over-the-top as it very well could have been, but it was just stunning to watch, the simple purity and focus of his journey. I mean I don’t condone violence, but after seeing everything that lead to this trip, you might be hard pressed not to do the likewise given the same circumstances.

Good film, and very well acted. Bravo!
