I can’t quite explain it, but this movie somehow crossed a line for me.

Storyline: Based on a true story about Tom and Eileen Lonergan who were lost at see due to mistake during a scuba diving trip.

I know I’ve seen other movies that involve a tragedy and are based on true events (The Titanic, The Perfect Storm, any war movie, etc…) but for some reason this movie seemed a little too personal. Perhaps it is because prior to the movie I read some comments about it online. I then looked up the story on the web, and read about Tom and Eileen. As I write this I think I realize this is the reason why I feel it crossed the line. Even though I knew about Tom and Eileen only from the stories I read, I still sympathized with their loss.

I know the roles of Daniel and Susan were actors but it was all just a little too real for me.

My advice is to skip this movie. I’ve heard some compare the film to the Blair Witch Project (which I really liked!) but the key difference is that this was a true tragedy. People’s lives were ruined and family and friends were left with the loss of loved ones.

For a well-written article about the true events here is a link to cdnn (cyber diver news network).
