Storyline: More of the same really… Samara (the little girl in the well) is back, and this time she’s trying to stay in the world of the living. She’s not going back to the well that easy this time around. It’s difficult to describe the storyline really, one so as not to give anything away, and two, because it’s somewhat confusing and disjointed. I think this was an opportunity for the studio to make some easy cash. They had a hit with the first movie, so let’s re-write the same exact movie, with minor scene changes, and put a 2 after the name, and people will go see it again. Guess what, they were right. It’s currently the number one film at the box office. But something tells me it won’t stay there long, once the word gets out. (yes, one week later it dropped). Yes, there were some spooky parts, but nothing that I can recommend to someone to spend 2 hours to sit through. So, I’m giving it a solid red light. Also, I need to point out another item that really ruined this movie for me (and Lyn). People! Why is it that with a horror movie, people must talk to one another? Is it fear that makes them forget common decency? Are they afraid that if they get too involved in watching a movie without talking, or cracking jokes, that they will somehow not recover from the scares? I’ve been known to stand up and approach a person(s) who is talking during a movie and ask them to please stop talking – yes, it usually works! But this theatre had so many people talking it would have been pointless. Perhaps it’s just because of the theatre or because we go to the “late” show, that it attracts a different crowd of people, but I think we will be looking for a new theatre. If by chance someone who is in anyway connected to a movie theatre is reading this… (Or if you wish to mention this to your local theatre manager)… lets bring back ushers! It used to be that 2-4 times during a movie, an usher would wonder in, and stroll down the aisle. They would make sure people didn’t have their feet up on the seat in front of them, and generally kept some sort of order in the theatre. If a group of kids were misbehaving, he’d give them a warning usually, then boot them out. At what point did the theatre managers realize they didn’t need to keep their theatre in order? I know that if there were a theatre near me, that had ushers, I would go there as a first choice. Well, I will get off my soapbox now. Jef |
