Nutshell: Did you see “The Ring”? Well then, this would be its sequel, or if you like a more in depth “nutshell”... the kid in the well comes back.
I truly liked the first film (check my review) and I was certainly excited to see the second installment coming. And if for no other reason than finding out that the director of the original “Ringu” ‘Hideo Nakata’ was gracing this film with his presence. Although I never saw the original Japanese release I assume it was good enough to make an Americanized version of it. (The obvious problem with assuming things). Something fell tragically short though, and like any sequel there is always the risk that it will never live up to the expectations of it predecessor, and of course this film doesn’t fail to disappoint. Plus, it had all the correct ingredients for failure, poor story, bad acting and whatnot, so how could it not fail.
Other than that, I can honest say I don’t even remember how the film ended, so in that respect I should at least be thankful and keep the hope that the entire film will slip from my memory completely some day soon.
Please don’t waste your time.
