Short version: A guy (along with others) gets killed in an office
rampage by an ex-employee guy, two years later, guy's wife (first guy,
not rampage guy) sues gun manufacturer for making and selling the gun
used by rampaging ex-employee guy (yeah, like suing a gun manufacturer
for making a weapon that may actually be used for the intent to kill someone
might even be plausible). Anyway… Fast forward and it's time to
pick a jury for the trail. In this corner for the plaintiff, Lawyer Wendell
Rohr (Dustin Hoffman), and in this corner puppet master for the defense,
professional jury fixer Rankin Fitch (Gene Hackman), and that's all you
need to know for now.
All in all a well acted story about jury tampering and whatnot. Nothing
extraordinary, still an interesting film that flowed well, but the one
thing that really grabbed me was the subject matter; "Is justice
really for all?" And that's the hook when I see films like this,
it's not the fact the movie ends when the credits roll, just the opposite,
it's the beginning. You start to think about what's going on in the film,
and how much does art reflect life? And that's the scariest part of all,
cause I don't know about you but I don't go to movies to be reminded of
the real world, but sometimes it sneaks in anyway. Like it or not, we
all need a good dose of reality from time to time no matter where we are…and
this film is just what the doctor ordered.
So, feel better and get well soon…
