First and foremost I have to get this out of my system…”That was Awesome!!!”. Although I’ve never read anything from the ‘Sin City’ comic books, I have to say that was simply the best adaptation of a graphic novel to film. Not so much by the story itself, but more by the way it was portrayed and presented. It’s as if I were reading the book and the characters were projecting themselves out far beyond the pages, (of course I mean really big movie theater screen size pages, but you understand). I mean I’ve seen other movies that were adapted from graphic novels, but never quite like this before. It was presented in comic book format, the lines delivered, the characters profiles and abilities, even the B&W/color cinematography, all deliciously believable inside a comic book world. I could go on and on, but I really feel that this is a film that should just be simply enjoyed. It’s basically a live-action comic book in the purist sense of the words. Meaning, whereas most graphic novels are attempted in vain to be turned into real life stories, this one leaves it just the way it is…it’s a comic book…that’s it. Other films in it’s genre should take lesson. One final note, even though I found all of the acting very well performed, I thought ‘Mickey Rourke’s’ performance exceptional. I truly believe he brought the character “Marv” respectively to life. Well done, and Bravo. Lyn |
