As Alex (Mendes) comes on board as the homicide investigator, each clue is pointing in Matt’s direction. Before anyone catches on, he must figure out a way to always stay one step ahead of the game. The best part of the movie is watching Matt always one step ahead. You really felt what he was going through as he was ahead by only a few seconds each time (literally). Denzel did a fine job playing the good guy who just happened to get caught up in some “bad” stuff. His side kick Chae (John Billingsley) played it brilliantly as he always seemed to be there at the right time and also bailed Matt out of a few messy situations that he wouldn’t have been able to get out of. The separated wife was a bit too much. I guess there had to be the “love interest” in the movie, otherwise any other homicide investigator might not have been as sympathetic as she was. Dean Cain plays and evil role. I think he is trying to break the “Superman” image he played for so many years because I’ve seen him only as evil characters ever since. I like this movie only for Denzel’s part in keeping a few seconds ahead of the game. Without his strength in this role, the movie may not be as good as it was. Nothing too original in this movie, but Denzel makes it. Roblyn |
